Brussels, 15 October 2025
European Commissioner for Environment, Water Resilience and a Competitive Circular Economy Jessika Roswall visited one of our members’ service centres just outside Brussels to witness firsthand how reusability operates within European supply chains.
During the visit, Commissioner Roswall observed how reusable transport packaging functions in practice, from the moment empty trays return from retailers, through washing, inspection and digital tracking, to their redistribution and reuse across the continent. This simple, efficient and proven system keeps goods moving seamlessly across Europe, demonstrating how reuse delivers both environmental and economic benefits.
At a time when Europe stands at a crossroads in redefining its competitiveness, the circular economy has a crucial role to play. Reuse is one of its most tangible, scalable and effective solutions, ensuring that supply chains are not only more resilient, transparent, efficient and advanced, but also fully circular.
During the visit, the Commissioner and representatives held a meaningful exchange on how reuse contributes to a competitive, resource-efficient and circular European economy, reducing waste and emissions while optimising energy and water use. The discussion highlighted that circularity is not a distant goal but a working and scalable reality delivering results today.
The organisation looks forward to continuing its collaboration with the European Commission to further build and advance circularity across Europe in the coming years, supporting the EU’s environmental and competitiveness objectives.
A heartfelt thank you goes to Commissioner Jessika Roswall for the engaged dialogue, and to Euro Pool Group for opening their doors and showcasing how circularity works on the ground.
